What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an individualized, disciplined approach to modify the environment and motivation of the child to improve socially significant behaviors. It is the most effective, evidence-based treatment endorsed by the American Pediatric Association and U.S. Surgeon General to address developmental needs, particularly in individuals with Autism.
How does ABA therapy work with my insurance or other funding needs?
Before initiating an assessment, your insurance benefits will be reviewed with your insurance company for pre-approval. We will also visit alternative funding options should those be more appropriate. We will review all options with you including private pay, autism scholarship, and out of pocket expenses to determine your best path.
Who is on the team?
Typically your team will consist of a master’s level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and 1-2 Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). The BCBA will drive programming and outcomes, seeing the team once per week for 1-2 hours. The RBT(s) will work 1:1 with your child fostering a strong relationship of play and intensive instruction per the guidance of the BCBA.
What approach does Kangaroo Journeys use for services?
Our team includes a multidisciplinary and individualized approach. We will begin with a peer-referenced and research-based assessment (typically the ABLLS, VBMAPP, AFLS, EFLS, and/or Vineland). This will provide a picture of the most pertinent focus needs and drive treatment goals, in addition to family input.
What if my insurance doesn't cover ABA?
